through the Ohio Department of Education/Office for Exceptional Children

Greetings!
We trust our Project MORE Schools are surviving another harsh winter in Ohio by staying safe and warm!

STATEWIDE VOLUNTEER PARTNERSHIPS ARE A SUCCESS

As you recall, The Ohio National Guard joined forces with Project MORE in helping supply schools with volunteer mentors. To date, we have had 55 inquiries from across the state. During the 2013-2014 school year, Senior Corps/RSVP programs supplied 49 Project MORE schools with 182 volunteers giving 4,815.5 volunteer hours. THANK YOU Ohio National Guard and Ohio Department of Aging!

PROJECT MORE IS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

We were proud to have been featured in an Ohio Educational Service Center Association newsletter in December 2014. Click here to view the article.

ATTENTION TITLE I AND CONNECT FOR SUCCESS CONFERENCE ATTENDEES

POSSIBLE GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR PROJECT MORE EXPENSES

In addition to Wal-Mart http://foundation.walmart.com/apply-for-grants/local-giving and Dollar General http://www2.dollargeneral.com/dgliteracy/Pages/grant_programs.aspx, we have been made aware of another opportunity that will help fund supplies or projects needed in the classroom. The website is donorchoose.org

UPCOMING PROJECT MORE PUBLICATION

Project MORE is excited to announce that a well-known university professor is very optimistic a second journal article will be published in the near future featuring Project MORE. Once we have the name of the journal and the publication date will we pass this information on.

WE WANT TO HELP!

Be sure to contact our office if you would like a follow-up training. We are here to support our schools and answer any questions you may have. As always, we would love to hear any human resource stories you would like to share with us. We want to hear from you! Please share your success stories, ask questions, and give suggestions as well as any concerns you may have.

PLANNING FOR THE 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR

We are starting to plan our calendar for next year. Our goal is to schedule fall training dates that will be published this spring. Also, we are asking for your suggestions for our next statewide conference. If you have a topic and are willing to present, please contact Sandy Maas, Project MORE Office Administrator at smaas@pm.noacsc.org

WE NEED YOUR HELP – STILL SEEKING A FEW PARTNERSHIP GUIDELINES FORMS

If you haven’t submitted a Partnership Guidelines Form back to us, please take a minute to do so. It is very important that this form is completed by active and inactive Project MORE schools for the 2014-15 school year. Please click here to download and print out the form. Demographic data forms are due before Friday, May 29, 2015. Be sure demographic data forms are completed to their entirety by including number of mentors and mentoring sessions. By completing and submitting these two forms, Partnership Guidelines Form and the Demographic Data Form, it allows us to advocate for veteran and new schools, as well as future Project MORE schools. The data submitted by schools will also help support our request for future funding.

AN EXAMPLE OF HOW VALUABLE PROJECT MORE CAN BE!

Below is an excerpt of two slides from our new and improved Power Point Presentation that describes how one Project MORE School has achieved EARS - Effective, Affordable, Replicable, and Sustainable.

With best regards always,
Jan, Sandy, Barb, Cindy, Lynn, and Shawn
